Working online has become a norm over the past two years. It can be challenging to stay on top of your tasks working remotely, working online or running an online business from home. On National Productivity Day, we wanted to share some of our best tips to boost your productivity online.
Have A Morning Routine
To boost your productivity working online, it is a good idea to build a morning routine. A morning routine will set you up to have a successful day. Perhaps your morning routine involves checking your emails over coffee. If you can build habits in the morning that will ease your day later on, you can build momentum for the rest of the day while simultaneously making your day easier.
Schedule Your Day
To ensure you stay focused throughout the day, make a schedule and block out times for your to do list. By creating a schedule, you eliminate potential distractions and have a better idea of how much time should be spent on each task. Having a schedule will eliminate any decision fatigue you experience as you already know what task is to be done next.
Designated Workspace
When working remotely designating a workspace could have a significant improvement on your productivity. By designating a specific area in your home for working, you create an environment in which your brain understands its work time. If possible, having your work space in a different room from your bed is ideal. Having a designated space allows for better organization in which all the tools you need to work are in one place.
Take Breaks
Taking breaks is a good way to have a mental reset and get a quick burst of energy. A break is to be used strategically. When you find that you are getting easily distracted, then it is a good idea to take a break. Taking breaks will save you from being burnt out in the long run. It is also a good idea to take your breaks when you are switching tasks as opposed to during tasks.
Use Focus Modes
In a time where distractions are so easy to come across, having a focus mode set up is great for getting deep work done. On both Mac and Windows, you are able to block out notifications from unwanted apps and websites. You can block out notifications for a certain time giving you the ultimate flexibility in creating your work mode.
Use Productivity Apps
One of the easiest ways to boost your productivity is to use productivity apps. One of the best overall productivity tools to use is Notion. With so much flexibility and customization, you can use Notion for your all-in-one productivity tool. Though using it can have a bit of a learning curve, you can create different kinds of lists, calendars, trackers and more to help you stay on top of all your tasks.
Make a Priority List
A priority list can be more effective than a to do list because you know which tasks are to be done first. Priority list also serves as a way to overcome procrastination as often times, the biggest tasks are the ones holding us back. By completing the biggest task first, you overcome the hurdle of procrastination.
