Florence Hermano, known as “Flo” around the office, is another one of our well-versed employees who has watched the company grow up. She’s celebrating her 6-year anniversary at CWH this month! Florence is our Lead Customer Support Manager, which means if you’ve ever reached out for web hosting support, you may have spoken to her online or over the phone. Florence is known for her upbeat personality; she’s passionate about her work and leaving everyone around her happy.

When did you join the CWH team?

What brought you to CWH?
I started in the medical field, so web hosting, and technology in general, was a different world for me. I found it very challenging so I was like, “I’m in!”
What was your first impression of CWH?
Six years ago, the company was much smaller. There were only a few staff members in each department, so I liked that I had the chance to interact with everybody. Everyone was very friendly and approachable.
Who was your favourite superhero growing up? Why?
Wonder Woman! As a kid, I always looked forward to watching her on our old television set. I liked her because she’s a fighter; she’s tough and she’s determined to fight for what she believes is right.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a doctor growing up but as I grew older, I changed my mind a bit. I received my Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Somehow, I ended up working in tech later on!
What is one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t yet?
I want to go abroad and travel. I want to go to Paris and take pictures of all the old architecture.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about you?
Two things. I’m a singer and I’m a good cook. Here’s my signature “Spicy Buttered Garlic Shrimp.”
My coworkers usually request orders of this dish around the holidays!
What is your favourite website? Why?
Youtube and different kinds of cooking websites. I love cooking and trying out different dishes, especially Filipino dishes.
What book are you currently reading?
“Angels and Demons” by Dan Brown. It’s my third time reading it. I love reading about conspiracies, ancient history, and architecture.
What is the nerdiest thing about you?
Passwords! I can memorize complicated passwords without batting an eyelash. Note: I’m not sure if this being a nerd or something else entirely.
What is one unusual or interesting thing about you?
Wherever I go, I have the capability and the passion to do a great job and make it to the top. I am allocentric and unselfishly concerned for the happiness of others.
The most interesting thing about me is that I’m an avid fan of basketball, specifically the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association). My favourite team is Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Every time they have a scheduled game, I have to record and watch it. Just imagine how loud I am while watching the game. It’s as if I’m at the arena. Then the following day I will watch the replay with the same excitement.

What is your favourite thing about being part of the CWH team?
I’m so grateful to be a part of CWH that I can’t find the right words to describe it. I don’t have an official background in web hosting but with the help of the CWH team, I was able to grow. With perseverance and dedication, I was able to develop the right skills and I am currently very happy in my position.
CWH is my second home. I love being a part of the team. For the past 6 years, I have watched how CWH helps each and every member in developing their skills so that we can excel in our individual tasks and roles and work as a team.

What is your favourite thing about working in the tech and web hosting industry?
Working in the tech and web hosting industry is a never-ending learning process. It never gets boring. Every day is a new challenge as technology is always evolving. You just have to have the right attitude to embrace and adjust to all the changes.
What is the most interesting thing that has happened to you since working at CWH?
I was able to get out of my comfort zone. I never knew that I would love working in web hosting.
What is your favourite thing about being a Lead Customer Support Manager?
As the Lead Customer Support Manager, I love getting to work with different departments of the company. I also love leading the support team. Watching them grow and become experts in their tasks is heartwarming and it means that I am effective as a leader.
