Google Reveals Page Speed Facts
As to my earlier blog post that Google now uses page speed as one criteria for ranking websites, here's a little more research from them. A site that is half a second slower can reduce traffic by 0.2 - 0.6% and can get worse the longer the delay is in effect. Even if your speed increases afterwards, it can still experience those negative effects for a couple of months. Here's a detailed video by Google employee. Note that Google and Microsoft worked together in this research and Google likes Macs!

holy sonny rollins! this is really a great video. glad that someone is addressing the necessity of using cache-ing and keeping user satisfaction at the top of the needs chart.
